Casey Hoffmire, Suzuki Violin
Casey Hoffmire believes music is a gift from God, and she is devoted to sharing this gift through various performance mediums, as well as inspiring the next generation of young musicians through her teaching. She began her violin studies as a student of her mother, Jane Hoffmire, and later transitioned to study with Marcia Henry Liebenow.
Casey is a recent graduate of Baylor University’s School of Music in Waco, TX, where she obtained her Bachelor’s Degree in Music. At Baylor, Casey studied under Borealis String Quartet’s first violinist, Professor Patricia Shih. She won section player designation in the Waco Symphony Orchestra, where she accompanied famed musicians such as Gil Shaham, Norm Lewis, and Time for Three. Casey has had the privilege of playing in venues such as Carnegie Hall in New York City as well as Bass Performance Hall, and the Renzo Piano Pavilion, both in Fort Worth, Texas. While at Baylor, Casey won awards in the Sempre Pro Music Competition, as well as the Dean’s Award for Outstanding Performance.
Casey has played and performed with a variety of chamber groups including the Waco based Brazos Trio and Grazioso String Quartet, and locally in the Peoria based River City String Quartet. She has had many solo opportunities, including being the main musical performance for the highly attended CareNet Banquet, featuring special guest Dr. Ben Carson. Casey was a guest artist on WTVP’s TV special documenting Peoria’s talented youth and also won the Youth Concerto Competition with YMI.
Besides performing, Casey is a very enthusiastic and inspiring teacher, having taught private violin lessons for 10 years in both Texas and Illinois. For the past three years, she has enjoyed being both intern and faculty for the Heart of Illinois Summer Music Clinic. She is a member of the Suzuki Association of the Americas and looks forward to teaching at the YMI Suzuki School of Music!
