An Ensemble for Everyone
With seven ensembles in a wide range of musical styles, YMI has an ensemble for you.
Suzuki School of Music
At the Youth Music Illinois Suzuki School of Music, we nurture beautiful character in every child through excellence in music. Our highly trained, caring teaching staff offer weekly group and private lessons to students on violin, viola, and cello.
Our program is unique in the area in that students are able to participate in the ensembles when they are ready. Students can play in the Dolce String Ensemble (at their teacher's recommendation) to learn more about the fundamentals of playing music with others, including concert etiquette, note reading, and following a conductor.
While YMI does charge tuition, those fees only cover approximately 40% of the total cost per student each season. Furthermore, we strive to make our program accessible to any hard-working young musician through need-based tuition scholarships.
Donations are used to further the mission of YMI – to mentor area youth to develop skills for both music and life through the power of live performance. With your help, we can fund scholarships, hire directors, present concerts, and so much more.
