Liz Kelly began learning violin at the age of three, beginning her passion for performing and teaching music that continues to the present. Liz began her musical journey right here in Central Illinois participating in the Sun Foundation Suzuki School of Music and Youth Music Illinois. After graduating high school in Brimfield, IL she went on to study Viola performance at the Cleveland Institute of Music under Jeffrey Irvine, and chamber music with the Cavani String Quartet. While studying in Cleveland, Liz began teaching private Suzuki lessons in Lakewood city schools and fell in love with teaching music. She later went on to study at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign gaining her Bachelors degree in Music Education. Liz has taught in public schools in Lakewood, OH, Bloomington, IL, and most recently directed the Orchestra program in Pekin, IL. When Liz is not in the classroom she performs with the Heartland Festival Orchestra, and several other small ensembles throughout the area. Liz and her husband Liam live in Mackinaw, IL with their two dogs Hestia and Iggy
